On January 31st, 2024, officers with the Halifax Regional Police and the RCMP raided Amu Leaf, one of three Micmac Truckhouses operating in the Halifax area in accordance with the Treaty of 1752 and constitutionally protected Micmac Aboriginal and treaty rights. Four Micmac people were arrested and charged, the store was trashed, and its products were stolen by police.
Join former National Chief Delbert Riley, Amu Leaf spokesperson Thomas Durfee, and members of the Micmac Rights Association for a rally, press conference, and court hearing at 9am at the Dartmouth Courthouse at 277 Pleasant St. to challenge the constitutionality of the bail conditions imposed on Micmac people exercising their rights.
