Tell us your story! 7pm, Thurs. Oct 5, Join us on zoom!
Judging by the sheer number of Indigenous people currently being criminalized for exercising their Aboriginal and treaty rights, the Micmac people are among the most oppressed people in Canada. Today, there are literally dozens of Micmac people in court who are facing charges over taxation, hunting, fishing, or trading tobacco and cannabis. Canada and the provinces of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick are violating constitutionally protected Aboriginal and treaty rights every day, and those responsible must be held accountable for their actions!
If you are Micmac and your rights have been violated by the Federal government, the Province or an Indian Act Band Council, we want to hear about what happened and discuss what we can do about it together!
This call will be recorded to document treaty rights abuses with the intention of sharing these stories on the Micmac Rights Association social media accounts (with the permission of those telling their story).
